Fruits de Mer Records - Psychedelia, Krautrock, Progressive Rock, Acid-Folk, R&B, Spacerock and Vinyl Heaven

I usually enjoy the Cherry Red 3CD sets - sensibly-priced, ideal CD fodder - easy to skip over the tracks that don't appeal in order to focus on the many hidden gems; but their new release, 'Strangers In The Room: A Journey Through The British Folk Rock Scene 1967-73', had me beaten for once, to the extent that I started to wonder what folk-rock is, or whether there really was a scene in the UK at all.
The tracks on the compilation range from pure folk to singer-songwriter to country rock to Canterbury-with-a-funny-accent, but does it really give a good representation of UK folk-rock?
I turned to FdM club members for their suggestions....

Let's start with tracks recommended by Chris Purdon, Iain Norris and two from Steve Smith

from classics to perhaps lesser-known artists - from Timelord Michalis, Stephen Young, Wayland Workman and Tony Buckley

ian Roper, Chris Bembridge, Robert Musgrove and Robert Simpson join the debate...

Dr. Floyd came up with four great tracks...

...as did Craig Palmer...

Robert Simpson was one of several members to suggest Trees, Wayland Workman wasn't alone in choosing a whole Forest, as well as Heron and Bread, Love and Dreams...

David Hodgson, Timelord Michalis, Tony Buckley and Allan Frederickson go for some classics...

Dave Lovatt takes a detour (as usual), as does Arne Rasmussen, and Ernie Oakley chips in with two tracks...

help spread the word!
