Fruits de Mer's club members brighten these dark times with a selection of their favourite songs from the era of peace, love, sun, beads and hippies; this selection are all from the birthplace of hippiedom - Basildon..sorry, the USA...

Dr Floyd combines nails, heads and hitting once again - this time with the first two tracks listed below, then - as club member Bob Johnson says, it's "..always a good time for a bit of Todd", he came up with one Nazz track, I added in one more...

Several club members came up with this fun mickey-take from 1967, but only Jonathan White suggested early Spinal Tap, no-one mentioned The Rutles' take on 'Tomorrow Never Knows' and it was left to Wayland Workman to share this bizarre episode from the good Captain...

John Parry and Barry Saranchuk dialled in from the US with the first two suggestions, followed by two more from Mark Smith...

Colin Cunningham recommends 'Yellow Balloon', whichever way you listen to it (try the first and second vidoes below), Robert Musgrove goes for The Left Banke and Lynne Edel chooses J.K. & Co...

Two more from Lynne and then two versions of a Shel Silverstein classic from Ray Canham...

Stephen Young gives us four of the best, hippiest examples from the 60s...

Dave Lovatt was probably trying to post a song by Diana Dors, but Iain Davie got it dead-right, as did Chris Dale and Theo Hassenewert by both choosing The Turtles, and Mark Smith with the wonderful Free Design...

Mal Reynolds and Zil Bareisis did some serious crate-digging with two examples each...

no-one mentioned The Hobbits, so I'm going to...ladies and gentlemen, The Hobbits...

Dave Lovatt came up with two tracks by those underground rock gods, The Banana Spilts - and for some reason that reminded me of Kim Fowley and Skip Spence...

David Goodey chipped in with two lesser-known bands, David and Alison with It's A Beautiful Day and The Lemon Pipers...

Till Wolff, Tony Buckley, Dale Simpson and Tony Buckley again fly the flag for Uncle Sam...
Sean from Canada, Henry from the US, Dr. Floyd from Germany and Ramon from Spain all sent in contributions...

and let's end with four American video clips that are as hip as you can get, short of being an orthopaedic surgeon...
