8" lathe-cut - Friends of the Fish 79 limited to 100 copies on sale April 1st
The Chemistry Set's Dave McLean unleashes his first solo release - an epic version of Kaleidoscope's 'Faintly Blowing' - and it's freakingly wonderful! ...Ian McCann from Record Collector got to hear it first and was so knocked out by what he heard he has already reviewed it...
Meanwhile, Jason Barnard (of The Strange Brew Podcast) sent a preview to Peter Daltrey of Kaleidoscope and Peter replied with,
"It's always puzzled me why our catalogue was not covered by other bands, this version is true to the original but Dave has put his own stamp on it, I particularly liked the ending"
There will only be 100 8" lathe-cut singles produced - so they'll be very rare and rather expensive - £16 including postage in the UK, around £20-£23 outside the UK (I'll confirm international prices once the records arrive at FdM Towers).
This is going to be vastly oversubscribed so...if you'd like to be in with a chance to buy a copy, all you have to do is email me - firstname.lastname@example.org - with 'FAINTLY' as the subject heading. Your name will automatically go in the FdM virtual hat; around March 25, I'll draw lucky names out of the hat and if yours is one of them, I'll email you to tell you how to order your copy (if you don't hear back from me by the end of March, sorry but it's bad news!)
I think this is the fairest way of giving everyone at least a chance of getting a copy (and before you ask, 100 lathe-cuts is the absolute limit for Phil the lathecutter before he goes mad - he has to listen to every copy being cut individually).
Join a Fruits de Mer mailing-list today, then you'll hear all about all our future releases - go to the 'Mailings' tab at the top of the page and follow the links - it's very straightforward
