"an incredible body of music from one of the country's least known yet most talented musicians in the whole field of modern electronic music....he was, is and always will be, much missed" Andy G

"Jake was one of those very special guys that you knew, once you met him, was cool" Swordfish

Jake Stephenson was a lovely, positive, gentle guy and a remarkably prolific recording artist. He recorded under dozens of aliases, releasing a steady stream of albums in the 90s - from ambient to acid trance, dub to drum'n'bass; he happened to live down the road from me in Weybridge, introduced me to the joys of The Orb and Orbital and changed my musical obsessions forever.

Jake moved to Glastonbury, we lost touch and it was a shock to hear he had died from epilepsy in 2005

20 years on, and thanks to his brother Silas, to Swordfish (another old friend of Jake, who mastered everything for free) and two of Jake's partners in creating music - Brian Trower and Matt Hillier - I've been able to put together this retrospective of his more chilled recordings (although Optica do let rip on 'Analogue Spectrum'!).

£2 from the sale of each double LP and each 3CD set will go to an epilepsy charity nominated by Jake's brother and there will also be a contribution to the Stephenson family

(I know 90s ambience is not your 'typical' Fruits de Mer release, so I've kept the vinyl run to 300 copies and the CD version to 200 sets, but this project means a lot to me)
