CRABSTOCK UK - SOLD OUT!
You'd have thought we'd have learned our lesson with the Summer Fruits de Mer All-Dayer at the Borderline in London, but oh no.....

Sendelica staged a festival of psychedelia in their home town of Cardigan on the Welsh coast on April 26th and they invited Fruits de Mer, together with a crowd of FdM artists, to create 6 hours of music, plus lots of free CDs and exclusive vinyl goodies - all wrapped up in a thing we called 'Crabstock' (I wonder why). AND it was sponsored by Shindig!, who've always had good taste, while the local Mantle Brewery sold limited-edition bottles of 'Crabstock' best bitter
the Mantle Brewery's finiest
IF you're in the UK/Continental Europe, you can order the Mantle Brewery's special edition Crabstock bitter from The Real Ale Company
Cardigan Bay's own micro-brewery - the Mantle Brewery - have produced a special edition of their best bitter to celebrate Fruits de Mer's Festival of Psychedelia - buying a crate of 12 from The Real Ale Co is the next best thing to being at the gig, where bottles were for sale from the bar - until we drank them dry!

Sendelica

The gig might have looked a bit like this...

Here's a bit of background on the artists....

The gig was organised and headlined by Wales’ resident psych/space rockers Sendelica, Sendelica are Fruits de Mer regulars, featuring on many releases – from their stunning version of The Velvet Underground’s ‘Venus In Furs’ to a sidelong track on FdM’s recent ‘strangefish’ series of albums. PROG magazine rated their new album in their top 5 strangest albums of 2013.

Earthling Society played a full electric set – they too have delivered a Fruits de Mer single as well as tracks on 2013’s strangefish set. Their latest album, ‘Zodiak’, was another of PROG magazine’s top 5 strangest albums...”if Primal Scream covered Hawkwind, they’d sound like this”. They now have Neil Whitehead, from Vert:x, as part of the band - talk about keeping it in the family.

James McKeown – who, as well as leading Bristol’s Hi-Fiction Science, is a brilliant solo artist in his own right, contributing wonderfully atmospheric guitar+electronics tracks to FdM’s strangefish box set; James has been played regularly by Gideon Coe on his BBC 6Music show.

Crystal Jacqueline – Jacqui’s forthcoming double 7” on Fruits de Mer features covers of songs by Curved Air, Mighty Baby and The Electric Prunes. Her latest album, ‘Sun Arise’ was voted one of Goldmine magazine’s best albums of 2013.

Jack Ellister – Jack came over from the Netherlands especially to open the festival (as he did for the Borderline event). Jack brings a new psych edge to songs by Syd Barrett, The Beatles and his own compositions. If you like Jacco Gardner, you’ll love Jack.
